Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Kerala Blasters have appointed Varun Tripuraneni as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Interestingly, the Men in Yellow roped in the high-ranking official from their arch rivals Chennaiyin FC

Varun Tripuraneni served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Chennaiyin FC since January 2016, before which he was the Head of Operations for The Super Machans. He is heavily involved in football and is the founder of Chennai United FC which plays in the Chennai Football Association (CFA) senior division league.

Varun is expected to travel Kochi on Thursday and meet with the club officials and lay out the groundwork for the coming season of the IMG-Reliance owned league.

"Our main objective right now is to focus on the grassroots development program. Kerala Blasters already have a good program going on at the youth level. The team management and the stakeholders want to give due importance to developing kids. We want our youth setup to be the best in the country," Varun Tripuraneni said to Goal. "We have some time before the 2017 season starts and our focus right now is to develop a competitive youth league in Kochi," he added.

He has also had a previous stint with Kerala Blasters as the head of football development during the inaugural season of the Indian Super League

The fans of the Sachin Tendulkar co-owned franchise will be hoping the appointment of Mr. Tripuraneni is a sign of the management laying out the blueprint for the 2017 edition of the tournament already.
