Goal's guide to India's AFC U-16 Championship campaign taking place in Malaysia...

The India U-16 national team will kick-start their 2018 AFC U-16 Championship in Malaysia on September 21, 2018.

India are drawn alongside Vietnam, Iran and Indonesia in Group B. The tournament will commence with the Group A fixture involving hosts Malaysia and Tajikistan at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on September 20, 2018.

India hosted the 2016 edition of the tournament and crashed out of the group stage. Iraq won their first ever title by defeating Iran on penalties in the final held at the JLN Stadium in Margao.

The 2018 edition of the AFC U-16 Championship will be India's eighth appearance at the Asian stage. Their best finish so far is a quarter-final appearance in 2002 against South Korea. They lost the match 1-3.

The Blue Colts won their last group stage match in AFC U-16 Championship against Indonesia in 2008. The young side, under coach Bibiano Fernandes, will be aiming to get past the group stages for the second time in their history.

The top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru as the AFC representatives.
