Huddersfield Town’s appeal against Steve Mounie’s red card has turned out unsuccessful.

The 24-year-old was sent off moments after the half-hour mark for a serious challenge on Yves Bissouma in their 2-1 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion in Saturday’s Premier League game.

However, the appeal against Michael Oliver's decision has been rejected, thus, the forward will serve a three-match suspension.

“After Town submitted the appeal on Monday, the Regulatory Commission informed the Club that the appeal had been unsuccessful, meaning Steve will now serve a three match suspension,” read a statement on the club website.

Mounie will miss Huddersfield’s Premier League games against Bournemouth on Tuesday, Arsenal tie on Saturday and Newcastle United on December 15.

Prior to the incident, the Benin international has featured in 13 games though yet to open his goal account this season after his impressive debut campaign, scoring nine goals in all competitions.
