Henry Onyekuru wins Belgian Super Cup with Anderlecht

The Nigeria international enjoyed a bright start with the reigning league champions as they secured their first diadem in the new campaign

Henry Onyekuru lifted his first major trophy this season as Anderlecht edged past Zulte-Waregem with a 2-1 win in the Belgian Super Cup.

Second half goals from Algeria international Sofiane Hanni and Adrien Trebel cancelled out Davy De Fauw’s third minute strike to give the Purple and White their first silverware in the 2017-18 season,

Onyekuru who is on a season-long loan move from Everton was introduced as a 65th minute substitute for Nicolae Stanciu as compatriot Peter Olayinka who is loan from Gent played for the entire duration for Zulte-Waregem.

The 20-year-old forward was excited with his first title with the Rene Weiler's men and took social media to express his gratitude.
