Gor Mahia Deputy Secretary General Ronald Ngala has insisted that Hassan Oktay is the new K’Ogalo coach.

This is a stark contrast of the position taken by his boss, club chairman Ambrose Rachier, who insisted that the Turk is only in Kenya for a formal interview and that the club is yet to settle on Dylan Kerr’s replacement. Kerr tendered his resignation in November after he accepted a new job offer in South Africa.

Even though Rachier said that Oktay is just one of the four finalists, who will have to go through a rigorous interview process, Ngala contradicted this position, stating that K’Ogalo have settled on Oktay, who watched Gor Mahia lose 1-0 to Kariobangi Shark in the KPL Super Cup on Sunday.

“We have settled on Hassan (Oktay); terms agreed. No other coaches are coming in. Shortlisting was done. He is our coach; we have settled on him!” Ngala told Goal.com in an interview on Tuesday.

Interestingly, Oktay was left behind as Gor Mahia traveled to Malawi for the return leg of the Caf Champions League against Nyasa Big Bullets.

The Kenyan champions needed a late goal by Benard Ondiek to defeat the Malawian side in the first leg, and any kind of draw away will be enough to see them through to the next round on Wednesday.

Gor Mahia will however, miss the services of midfielder Francis Kahata, who is closing in on a transfer move to Algerian club CS Constantine.
