Grosicki goes AWOL to leave Bursaspor fuming at bizarre breakdown of transfer

Kamil Grosicki has found himself at the centre of a bizarre transfer tale, with the Hull City winger going AWOL as Bursaspor waited on him to sign a contract.

The Turkish outfit believed they had a deal in place as the transfer window for permanent deals in England ticked down.

Grosicki had met with the club, with his representatives initially agreeing terms on a two-year deal.

The 30-year-old never made it as far as putting pen to paper though as he suddenly went missing.

Bursaspor have been left fuming at the late breakdown in talks, with a statement released on their official website reading: "Our club had reached a deal with Kamil Grosicki and Hull City for two years.

“As of last night the player had come to Bursa and was due to undergo a health check this morning.

“The contract had been prepared in accordance with the demands of Hull City and Kamil Grosicki.

“He arrived at the signature stage, abandoned the agreement and suddenly left the city without any justification.”

Bursaspor chairman Ali Ay has revealed that Grosicki’s representatives sought to alter their demands after previously agreeing terms.

They were suddenly asking for more money, which they were told they would receive at a later date.

Ali Ay refused to put “cash on the table” and believed a compromise could be reached which allowed a deal to go through.

Bursaspor were, however, to be left stunned when they realised that the Grosicki camp had checked out of their hotel without giving any notice.

A player who has made one Carabao Cup appearance for Hull City this season will now remain with the Tigers, with his contract due to run until 2020.
