Ghana duo fail MRI test ahead Africa U-17 Cup of Nations qualifiers

The Black Starlets' preparation for the upcoming qualifiers was dealt a huge blow after two players failed the compulsory MRI test

Ghana U17 coach Abdul Karim Zito is in shock following the disqualification of two of his key players for the 2019 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Midfielder Adams Saad and striker Emmanuel Bio failed the mandatory magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, which determines age eligibility.

The Black Starlets have been paired with Niger and Togo in one group, with the winner automatically qualifying for the final competition.

“It was very heartbreaking to learn that those two players will not be in my team for the qualifiers next month,” Zito told

“They were very key to my plans and have been playing so well.

“It is very unfortunate and I feel for the boys but then what can we do? We just have to prepare without them and hope to qualify at the end,” he added.

With the qualifiers kicking off on September 2, Ghana have until Monday to replace the disqualified players.
