Francis Kahata is on the verge of leaving Gor Mahia after being left behind for the trip to Malawi.

The Kenyan champions arrived safely in Blantyre ahead of the return leg fixture against Nyasa Big Bullets set for Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday. However, Kahata, who did not feature in the first leg that K’Ogalo won by a solitary goal, will once again miss the contest.

A source close to the player has intimated to Goal that Kahata’s transfer to top Algerian club CS Constantine could be sealed very soon. “He was left behind to continue negotiating with the club over a possible transfer. They don’t want him to play for Gor Mahia because this could make him ineligible to play for them, if they manage to sign him.”

However, the source revealed that the Algerian club is yet to contact Gor Mahia. “What I know is that the agent of Constantine spoke to Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier over the same but I don’t know exactly what they discussed. The player is definitely on the move and will sign for the new club soon.”
