Nigeria U20 qualified for the 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations with an emphatic 5-0 win over Mauritania U20 (6-1 on aggregate).
A brace from Nazifi Yahaya including goals from Wasiu Alalade, Okon Asuquo and Aremu Afeez tore apart the west Africans apart in Agege Stadium.
The Flying Eagles returned to the tournament after missing out of a chance to defend their title in the 2017 edition staged in Zambia.
After a 1-1 draw at Stade Olympique, Nouakchott in the Third round of qualification, Paul Aigbogun’s men began the game on a bright note with Alalade taking the lead in the 12th minute.
Yahaya doubled the lead in the 36th minutes before completing his brace a minute after the restart of the second half.
Okon made it four in the 67th minute while debutant Afeez completed the rout from the penalty spot in the dying seconds of the game.
With this victory, Nigeria will be making an appearance at the 15th edition of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations billed for Niger Republic between 24 February – 10 March 2019.
The top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2019 Fifa U-20 World Cup in Poland.
