The striker made arrangements for ten Ghanaian students in Wales to watch him on Saturday

Ghana and Swansea City striker Jordan Ayew bought tickets and made arrangements for ten Ghanaian students studying in Wales to watch him in his side's 1-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.

The 26-year-old was hoping to help the Swans return to winning ways, after going three games without a win prior to kickoff but an early goal by Glenn Murray did the damage on his side as they moved down to just one place above the drop zone.

Ayew had his best opportunity blocked in a goalmouth scramble in second half, before playing Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham through but the youngster couldn't force an equaliser.

Under pressure Swansea boss Paul Clement replaced Ayew with Oliver McBurnie in the 79th minute but the substitution failed to yield dividends as the visitors held on to move to eighth position.

Dennis Osei Nimo Annor, one of the students was full of praise of Ayew, and believes Swansea will avoid relegation.

"We're really grateful to Jordan Ayew for what he did for us. The arrangement was smooth and it was all joy watching our countryman in action," he told Goal.

"Although Swansea lost and are currently just a place above the drop zone, I believe they have the quality to survive.

"They need just one crucial victory away and at home to bring back the winning mentality. Ayew is a great player and never gives up, so I trust him to push them up on the log with the help of his teammates," he added.

Ayew has featured 10 times for Swansea this season and boasts of one goal. They will travel to Burnley next weekend before hosting Bournemouth.
