Enyimba have re-signed their head coach, Usman Abdallah and have handed him a two-year contract.
The People’s Elephant moved quickly to tie the former Kano Pillars coach to a new contract to fend off interests from some Nigeria Professional Football League teams who have been queuing up to poach the experienced tactician from Enyimba after his impressive debut season.
Confirming the renewal of Abdallah’s contract the Chairman of Enyimba, Felix Anyansi-Agwu disclosed that they took the decision in the interest of the club and that he is certain that they are headed towards the right path with what they achieved in the league and in the continent.
“Even though I don’t see the extension of the contract of a coach as newsworthy, I am happy to inform you that Coach Abdallah is remaining with us because we have decided to keep him and those that worked with him,” Anyansi told Goal.
“We know what we want from our club and we know the calibre of coaches and players that are appropriate for Enyimba. We have taken this important decision putting in mind the future of Enyimba. We want the technical crew to continue from they stopped and ensure that Enyimba are still among the top teams in Nigeria.
“They have a task that has been entrusted to them and we know they are not going to disappoint us. We want Enyimba to remain very ambitious and try to beat the record of last season with a place in the continent at the end of the season.”
Enyimba re-signed Abdallah for another two seasons after the coach led the team to the semi-final of the Caf Confederation Cup and also placed fourth in the Nigeria Professional Football League at the end of last season.
