Elmina Sharks targeting first Ghana PL win

Elmina Shark captain Charles McCarthy is bent on leading his outfit to a first ever victory in the Ghana Premier League in their welcome of Tema Youth on Sunday.

On their maiden season of topflight football, the new boys have not had a good start as expected, having lost a game and drawn another thus far.

The side succumbed to a 1-0 home defeat to league leaders Aduana Stars in their first game, before holding Great Olympics to a 2-2 stalemate.

“It [Tema Youth encounter] is a game we have to win," McCarthy said, as reported by Ghana Sports.

"We have to win for our fans in Elmina; they have been there for us.

“We got our first point in the League against Olympics and it was a big motivation for us.

“This time, we want to get our first victory in the league and it is good we will be playing at home.

"We just hope for the best.”

Sharks currently sit 12th on the league table, six places below Youth, whom like the Elmina-based club, are newly-promoted.
