Egypt’s Ramadan Sobhi handed five-year deal at Stoke City

The 20-year-old winger who joined the Bet365 Stadium outfit last season has committed his future to the club for the next five years

Ramadan Sobhi has signed a new improved five-year contract at Stoke City which will keep him at the club till 2022 following a fantastic debut season.

The Egyptian who joined the English club side from Al Ahly last summer has caught the eye with his performances which prompted the Club’s management to offer him a new deal.

“I received a friendly and good welcome from everyone at the Club, including my teammates and the management team in my first season.Thanks to the fans for the support they gave me throughout last season,” Sobhi told club website.

“I’m delighted to be signing this contract. I’m proud to be part of this Club and I’m determined to repay Stoke City for the faith they showed in me in signing me at just 19.

“Last season was good but I am confident that the best is yet to come. Shukran.”

Chief Executive Tony Scholes also weighed in on why they offered the youngster the extension

“There’s no doubting that Ramadan is an exciting young talent,” he added.

“The first year in a new league and it’s fair to say new culture is always going to be challenging for a player.

“Ramadan has adapted to the league and country very quickly and showed that he has enormous potential.

“We’re delighted to have secured him on a contract until at least 2022.”
