The 1995 African Champions League winning skipper has warned the Soweto giants against undermining Usuthu

Orlando Pirates legend Edward Motale has urged the Buccaneers to remain wary as they prepare to face off against AmaZulu on Saturday evening.

Pirates are fresh off a 2-1 Soweto Derby win and Motale hopes that they will carry that form into their Telkom Knockout clash.

“Yeah I think the win in the Soweto Derby was a motivation on Pirates, it has given them the edge, they are professional and have a technical staff who can motivate the guys to keep their feet on the ground,” Motale told Goal.

“The coaching staff will ensure they won't sit on their laurels because Usuthu can be dangerous. They were docked points and are struggling in the league, basically will be challenging a wounded tiger,” he added.

“The technical team will have to motivate and keep their fighting spirit they showed against Chiefs because the game will not be a walkover,” he continued.

Meanwhile, 'Magents' also praised the decision to move the match to the iconic 2010 Fifa World Cup venue instead of playing at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

“I think it will be one of the advantages for Bucs because of the size and their type of football,” he said.

“However, Usuthu will still run on a bigger field although they are used their stadium which is smaller, and that doesn't mean it will be easy for Pirates. This means they must not undermine AmaZulu because they are fit and ready for the clash to reach the semi-finals,” warned the former Bafana Bafana international.

It has been a long, hard wait for silverware at Pirates and Motale believes that coach Milutin Sredojevic is destined to achieve success with his current crop of stars.

“I can say they started on a low note and they are back on a form which helped them finish on a high last season,” said the 52-year-old.

“They are promising and come end of the season, I am sure they will have something in the cabinet if they can start winning the Telkom and follow up with the league title,” he concluded.

The clash will be staged at the Moses Mabhida Stadium at 18:00.
