K'Ogalo will now be crowned the champions if they get a draw against rivals AFC Leopards in a top league derby on Saturday

Gor Mahia made a huge step towards their seventeenth league crown after defeating Sofapaka 3-0 on Wednesday.

Goals from Joachim Oluoch, Innocent Wafula and Samuel Onyango were enough to hand the defending champions maximum points against a ten-man Batoto ba Mungu. Head coach Dylan Kerr made eleven changes to his side, giving his fringe players an opportunity to show what they have.

The tactician has revealed to Goal what he told his players ahead of the game. “Win the league today play Saturday against AFC Leopards and become heroes. But do it clever, use your football brain to win the game. We cannot play pretty football on this field we have to be ruthless that means fight scrap and do everything not to concede a goal and we will score.”

Gor Mahia is currently riding high on the table with an unassailable twenty-point lead with just seven games to complete the season. A draw against Ingwe in the derby will as well work considering the fact that K’Ogalo has a healthy goal difference of 41 after scoring 63 goals and conceding 22.
