Draw at Abia Warriors will motivate Enugu Rangers - Gbenga Ogunbote

Enugu Rangers head coach Gbenga Ogunbote believes securing a point at Abia Warriors will inspire his players to secure better results this season.

The Flying Antelopes forced the Ucendu Warriors to a 0-0 draw as they picked yet another point on the road at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday.

It was the fourth time the former champions will escape defeat on their fifth visit to Umuahia for an enthralling Oriental derby encounter.

And Ogunbote, who was pleased, felt a win would have been more fitting for them but is confident they will continue building on their impressive form.

"It is a big one when you talk about a derby. There is no derby that is not a difficult one," Ogunbote told Goal.

"The important aspect is that we were able to pick a point but at the same time, I still see it is a two-point loss. This is a game we could have wrapped up by getting the three points.

"For what went wrong, I think that's an internal matter and when we get home we will try to fix that up.

"Oriental derby has always been difficult one but be it as it may, we had our target coming here and we really worked towards it and we have been able to get a point from it.

"I think it is going to motivate the players to believe in themselves, knowing fully well that if you start picking points away and consolidate at home, then you will be able to make a statement."

Following the draw, Enugu Rangers are eighth on the league log with 10 points from seven games and will host El Kanemi Warriors in their next encounter on Sunday.
