Zimbabwe captain Knowledge Musona and defender Alec Mudimu are suspended and will not feature against DR Congo in Harare on Tuesday

DR Congo captain Chancel Mbemba says they will not repeat the same mistakes they made when they lost 2-1 to Zimbabwe in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at home last Saturday.

The FC Porto defender has fired warning shots to the Warriors who will be missing suspended captain Knowledge Musona and centre-back Mudimu when they host DR Congo on Tuesday.

Anderlecht forward Musona was red-carded 16 minutes before full time, five minutes after he had capitalised on a howler by the hosts’ goalkeeper Anthony Mossi, while Mudimu received a second yellow card in this campaign.

With victory guaranteeing Zimbabwe a place at the 2019 Afcon finals in Cameroon, Mbemba believes nothing can stop the Congolese Leopards from winning away from home just like their opponents did last Saturday.

“We will give everything we have as a team,” Mbemba was quoted as saying by FootCD.

“We have watched on video the mistakes made in the first leg. We have put them behind us and it is the past now. We know what we need to do this Tuesday. We will sweat to get the three points as the Zimbabweans did at our home. That’s why we came here.”

Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa has also predicted a stern challenge from DR Congo who are now three points behind Zimbabwe on second spot.

“Of course we beat them but I don’t think it’s going to be an easy game,” Chidzambwa told The Herald.

“Even the game we won was not easy. But what happened in the first leg is now water under the bridge. We have to focus on the coming assignment.

“We know we are playing a very strong side, which is highly ranked in Africa. If we are to get a good result we have to fight very hard. I know they are going to come at us but we are prepared for that.”
