After another goalscoring performance for Manchester United, it is difficult to see how there was ever a time when Henrikh Mkhitaryan was not an integral part of Jose Mourinho’s plans.
His latest effort, against Rostov, has ensured that the Red Devils remain on course for a place in the Europa League quarter-finals, with a previous strike away at St Etienne helping them to this point.
It is, however, his displays on the domestic scene that have been earning him the most recognition.
Mkhitaryan has taken a stranglehold on United’s Goal of the Month competition, with February’s award seeing him complete a personal hat-trick.
The Armenia international took the prize for a memorable solo effort against Leicester City, with his latest recognition leading a former team-mate from his days at Borussia Dortmund to question the validity of the selection process.
Come on, it's like the 8th time you win this. Do they even nominate other players or do you just decide which goal you want to win with? https://t.co/ivun2YwCde— Mats Hummels (@matshummels) March 10, 2017
Hummels is well aware of what Mkhitaryan is capable of, with the pair having enjoyed numerous triumphs together in Germany.
Both have since moved on to pastures new, with World Cup winner Hummels now on the books at Bayern Munich.
He is clearly keeping a close eye on Mkihitaryan’s exploits in England, with the 28-year-old having left a slow start to his Old Trafford career firmly in the past.
While celebrating his latest goal gong, he can also look back on past successes that came about after netting in an FA Cup clash with Wigan Athletic and following a memorable scorpion kick in a Premier League meeting with Sunderland.
