On Wednesday, the Flying Antelopes will look to hold on to their first-leg advantage over Defence Force

Enugu Rangers will leave for Addis Ababa on Tuesday ahead of the return leg of the Caf Confederation Cup preliminary round fixture with Defence Force billed for Wednesday.

The Flying Antelopes were 2-0 victors in the first leg played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu from two Godwin Igudia second-half penalties.

Midfielder Chiamaka Madu disclosed that, on Tuesday, they leave via a connecting flight from Enugu’s Akanu Ibiam Airport to the East African side due to difficulties in airline scheduling.

“We are leaving for Addis Ababa on Tuesday and it is as a result of the connecting flight to Ethiopia from Enugu Airport which we do not have control over,” Madu told Goal.

“We are targeting another impressive performance that is better than the one we displayed in the first leg. We have seen the Defence Force and we know that we are not going to have it easy with them. We have thus far concentrated on our preparation for the second leg and I can say that we have really improved.”

Rangers are seeking to become the first Nigerian club to win the African second-tier club competition after Dolphins qualified for the final in 2005 but lost to FAR Rabat of Morocco.

Sunshine Stars (2012) and Enyimba (2018) both got to the semi-finals before losing to north African oppositions (Club Africain of Tunisia and Morrocan giants Raja Casablanca) respectively.
