Jonathan Kodjia demonstrated why he was missed by Aston Villa in the club’s 2-2 Championship draw with Brentford, according to manager Steve Bruce.
The Cote d’Ivoire striker’s brace ensured the club maintained their unbeaten run this season after Neal Maupay’s double seems to have handed the Bees a famous away victory.
The 28-year-old, ended his long-term barren spell against Ipswich Town on Saturday and continued with two goals to fetch his team a point.
And his boss has expressed his admiration for his impressive showing against Dean Smith’s side.
“All last year we missed him. It's always difficult when you're overcoming an injury like the one he had,” Bruce told club TV after the game.
“He's starting to show glimpses of just why we missed him so much.
“He's getting there – his physical stats were great on Saturday. He led the line well again tonight.
“Only he could score that first goal – it was out of nothing. He's produced that little bit of magic in the box to wriggle past his defenders and smash it home.
“His second goal, the header, was excellent, too.
“It's good to see him, it's like having a new signing. Long may it continue.”
Aston Villa are now two points behind leaders Leeds United after four games and they face Reading in their next outing.
