Former Gor Mahia player and coach Bob Oyugi has slammed current tactician Dylan Kerr for failing to solve the defensive crisis in the team.
The Kenyan champions have of late struggled to keep clean sheets, and have conceded five goals from open play in their last four games. Oyugi, who coached Gor Mahia in the eary 90s, feels Kerr was tactically exposed with the number of matches the team played.
"Kerr is a good coach who can motivate players and push them to give their best, but he is poor in some aspects. His defensive discipline approach and tactics failed the team.
The majority of the goals conceded are from defensive blunders; goalkeepers, defenders and the midfielders. Free kicks are a problem to defend and corner kicks as well, same mistakes," Oyugi told Goal during an interview.
"There has to be a structure in the team, but Kerr is slow in reading the game and making vital decisions."
Gor Mahia has already won the league title and is preparing to take part in the Caf Champions League next season.
