Exclusive: The Burkina Faso star wants to make a statement this season in the top-flight by winning the topscorer's award

Bechem United striker Amed 'Simba' Toure has revealed that he is aiming at scoring in the remaining games in the Ghana Premier League to win his first topscorer award after several seasons in the top-flight.

The 29-year-old has previously played for Kessben FC (now Medeama), Asante Kotoko and was adjudged the league's best player in 2011-12 season while with the Porcupines.

He currently leads the topscorer's chart after scoring a hat-trick last weekend in their 4-0 victory over Bolga All Stars to take his tally to 12 goals, one above Nicholas Gyan.

"It has always been my dream to win the goal king one day in Ghana and I think it is on course," Toure told Goal.

"After my three goals against Bolga on Sunday, I felt I am very close than ever to win the award since I am leading with only seven games remaining. I have to work hard and at least score a goal in each of the matches because the award is mine.

"I have won the best player before and winning the goal king will make me one of the successful foreigners to ever grace the Ghana Premier League.

"I know my teammates will continue to help me to achieve this dream to make them and the club proud. It is likely we'll be unable to win a trophy this season so I think we can compensate it with the goal king award," he added.

Toure will become the second player from Bechem to win the award if he is able to maintain the lead, after Augustine Okrah scored 16 goals to pick the gong in the 2013-14 season.
