Bala Nikyu 'not disappointed' despite Wikki Tourist loss to Enugu Rangers

Head coach Bala Nikyu has said he was not let down by his Wikki Tourist team despite their 3-0 defeat against Enugu Rangers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday.

Before the encounter, the Giant Elephants were without a win in their last three matches and desperately wanted to avoid defeat against ambitious Gbenga Ogunbote's side in Enugu.

However, Godwin Aguda's first-half strike plus second-half efforts from Christian Madu and Kelvin Itoya helped the Flying Antelopes compound the woes of the struggling Giant Elephants.

And former Katsina United gaffer felt that they played well but lost, noting that the defeat was destined to happen following a number of their missed chances in the first half.

“Well, nobody would expect this kind of result in a match having started well," Nikyu told media.

"In the first ten minutes when we threw away two glaring chances, I knew something will happen. Football is a very funny kind of sport.

"There are times you will play badly and still win and sometimes, you play well and lose.

"I am not disappointed with the performance of my players. I believe it was destined to happen this way.”

After the loss, Wikki Tourist dropped to the relegation zone - 17th on the log with 21 points from 19 games and will face Plateau United at the New Jos Stadium on Wednesday.
