Arsenal legend Henry tipped by Pires to be top boss after learning from Wenger & Guardiola

Thierry Henry has been backed to enjoy a successful managerial career by former Arsenal team-mate Robert Pires, with the Frenchman having learned from Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola.

The Gunners legend spent time working under some iconic bosses during a distinguished playing career.

Wenger helped to make him a superstar in England, while Guardiola allowed him to savour Champions League success at Barcelona.

Henry has also benefited from cutting his coaching teeth alongside Roberto Martinez within the Belgium national team set-up.

All of that experience is considered to have put him in an ideal position to head out on his own and prove his credentials back in familiar surroundings at Monaco.

The Ligue 1 outfit, who launched Henry’s career as a talented teenager, have handed their reins to a rookie manager after parting with Leonardo Jardim.

Asked by the Daily Mail what can be expected from Henry, fellow World Cup winner Pires said: “This is a difficult question because this is new for Titi. Nobody knows, even him, what he can do as a manager.

“With Thierry you need passion, it is an important thing for him. He needs to talk to the players about the tactics on the field.

“It is important he has learnt a lot with Roberto Martinez and when he used to play with Arsenal [under Wenger] and Barcelona with Pep Guardiola he learned a lot about this.

“It is a totally different thing to be a player and manager. It is not the same job. He can make a success because Titi loves football.

“He knows everything about football, the teams and the players. I am very confident for Titi.”

Henry is set to take in his first fixture as Monaco boss on October 20, with the principality outfit due to travel to Strasbourg once domestic action resumes after the international break.
