Although Salisu Yusuf’s men were handed a late scare by the Lagos outfit, they held firm for a thrilling victory

CHAN Eagles are LMC Super 6 champions after they defeated MFM 3-2 in an enthralling final encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday evening.

A brace from star striker Anthony Okpotu and one from his Lobi Stars strike partner, Kingsley Eduwo had the national side three-goal ahead before a late surge from the Olukoya Boys through Jonathan Zikiye and Chuka Uwaga threatened their lead. But they held on to finish their preparation for Morocco 2018 African Nations Championship on a high.

Sunday Faleye was rewarded for his heroics in the last group game against Enyimba, thus, securing a spot up front with Okpotu who was making his first start in the tourney.

Salisu Yusuf returned to regular suspects with Rabiu Ali, Moses Eneji, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi all returning to the fold but there was no chance for team captain, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, with Theophilus Afelokai in his stead.

Fidelis Ilechukwu stuck with the starting XI that secured the decisive 1-1 draw with hosts, Kano Pillars.

The striker got a second in the 69th minute. And his club-mate, Eduwo, on in his place, netted the third of the game.

Ilechukwu's men tried to force a late fightback but Zikiye’s strike and a header from Uwaga on the stroke of full time were not enough to turn the tide as they were outfoxed 3-2 by the Super Eagles B side.
