2016 African Women's Cup of Nations Qualifiers: Senegal edge closer to Super Falcons date

The Teranga Lionesses secured a priceless away victory in Dakar to inch near a date with the reigning African champions for the 2016 African Women's Cup of Nations

The Senegal women national team are a game away from meeting Nigeria in the 2016 African Women's Cup of Nations qualifiers after a 1-0 victory over Guinea in their first leg, preliminary round game in Dakar on Sunday.

Bineta Diakhate's early strike helped coach Diaby Bassouare's ladies overcome their visitors at the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor in Dakar.

The Senegalese women grabbed their goal in the fifth minute and held on to the narrow victory.

Senegal will look to snatch an away win to consolidate when they visit Conakry in the second leg on March 18.

But a big second leg win for Guinea will see them through to the second round as both sides would look forward to facing the Super Falcons in April.

The 12th edition of the African Women's Cup of Nations will be held in Cameroon with eight teams to play in the tournament scheduled to hold from November 19 to December 3.
