Rivers Angels, Sunshine Queens reach Women Federation Cup final

Both Nigeria Women Premier League outfits edged out their rivals to book a place in the final scheduled to hold in Lagos on August 16
Rivers Angels and Sunshine Queens have reached the final of the Nigeria Women Federation Cup after beating Delta Queens and Nasarawa Amazons respectively in Friday's semi final matches.

Rivers Angels secured a 2-1 victory over their south-south neighbours Delta Queens at the Fifa Goal Project pitch in Abuja with goals from their Cameroonian import Cathy Bou and Ngozi Ebere in 37th and 47th minute silencing their opponents who got their solitary strike courtesy Ngozi Okobi in the 68th minute.

In Lokoja, Sunshine Queens defeated Nasarawa Amazons 4-3 on penalties following a goalless draw at full time at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium.

The heroics of Akure side’s goalkeeper Funke Okewole denied the league champions and last year’s finalist the chance to reach their second final.

River Angels will be hoping to win the title back to back when they face Sunshine Queens that are reaching the final for the first time in six years.
