Plateau United have secured the services of former all time highest scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Jude Aneke and four other players to ease their goals scoring problem in the second round of the league.
Anayo Emmanuel, Daddy John and Caleb Baba are the remaining three players whom registrations were completed with the League Management Company (LMC) before the close of work on Friday.
The Jos side have found goals difficult to get during the first round , though unbeaten in their last seven matches they have drawn the last six games both home and away in the topflight.
The last straw was the goalless draw at home to Kano Pillars and the acting General Manager of the team, Pius Henwam has waded in by adding Kabiru Umar an accomplished goal-poacher who has come in on loan from 3SC after stints with Heartland FC and Kano Pillars.
Media Officer Albert Dakup revealed that three of the new signings will hopefully make their debut in Lokoja on Wednesday when they face Niger Tornadoes after Sunday’s game against Kano Pillars.
“We deemed it fit to add experience players to our team with the view that they will bring it to bear as we start the second round of the season with our sights on leaving the relegation zone for significant spot on the league table at the end of the season. The new changes made too are meant to make us stronger during the second round,” Dakup told Goal.
Plateau United are 17th on the log with 20 points from 18 matches and they will be counting on Aneke to regain the form that saw him emerge as the NPFL highest scorer in 2012 with 20 goals.
