Giwa FC expelled from Nigerian Professional Football League

The Jos' outfit have been expelled from the elite division by the league organisers after failing to appear in three games, though can appeal their ban within 48 hours

Giwa football club have been expelled from the Nigeria Professional Football League following the Jos based side’s failure to honour three league games.

League Management Company announced the expulsion of the Jos Elephants on Friday after the side failed to show up for their Week 18 clash against Enyimba on Wednesday.

The team was banished to Ilorin following a scuffle that erupted in their tie against Enugu Rangers in Jos.

Since, they failed to honour games against Wikki Tourist, Akwa United and defending champions Enyimba.

"Giwa FC has been expelled from 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football league season," LMC wrote on Twitter.

"Giwa FC is in breach of the NPFL Framework & Rules for failing to honour three cumulative fixtures without acceptable reason.

"Giwa FC was banished to Ilorin to play three consecutive home games after disturbances in its match day 12 game.

Giwa become the second club to be expelled from the league after Ocean Boys in 2012.
