Solomon Kwambe is hoping to revive his career at his hometown club Lobi Stars, following an injury plagued 2015 which saw him feature sparingly.
The defender joined Warri Wolves from Sunshine Stars mid-way through last season but struggled for game time as he suffered injuries, which ultimately forced him out of Nigeria’s team to the CHAN tournament after having played in the qualifiers.
He says he is hoping he can stay injury-free in the new season and win back his place in the Super Eagles.
“I really hope I can stay fit this season because of what I suffered last year,” he told Goal.
“Now that I am returning home (with Lobi Stars), I hope I will play through the season without any injuries.
“I have been working hard on my fitness and I will be ready when the league starts. I also hope I will win my place back in the Super Eagles with my performances,” he said.
The 22-year old was a member of Nigeria’s squad to the 2014 CHAN tournament in South Africa, and says he regrets not making the team to Rwanda while hoping to impress Sunday Oliseh.
“I felt bad because I got injured and the coach asked me to take my time and get fit again,” he continued.
“But these things happen and we have to take them that way, but he (Oliseh) also said he will look my way when I’m fit again and I hope to impress him.”
Kwambe is set to finalize a loan move to Lobi Stars from Sunshine for the 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League season.
