Sunshine Queens beat Rising Queens in friendly

Coach Kayode Olujohungbe ladies continued their build up to the Nigeria Women Premier League resumption with a win against their feeders’ team
Sunshine Queens Football Club beat Rising Queens 2-0 in a pre-season game played at the Akure Stadium on Monday.

Goals from team’s top scorer Shola Oyewusi and Falconet’s Yetunde Aluko gave the Akure based outfit a win as they perfect strategies for the new season.

Coach Oluhjohungbe’s side lost to Rivers Angels in the final of the 2014 Women’s Federation Cup and placed third in the Premier League.

"We created more chances in the second half, it was a good game but there is still big room for improvement,” said Ondo State Football Association technical director, Paul Ashworth after the game.

"The progress is great but that does not mean that we are nearing perfection. We need to keep working hard and pay attention to details in our overall thinking and how we do things on the pitch.”

Ashworth was also full of praises for Tosin Akinsipe who was in goal for Rising Queens for her quick progress and confidence.

"He commended Sunshine Queens Keeper, Tosin Akinsipe who kept for Rising Queens for her quick progress and confidence.

"The warm up is a good game for the team before the start of the new season, we intend to build on last season achievements and do better this season. The girls are blending well, we hope to play more games before our training tour anytime from now", said Olujohungbe.
