Nigerian trio of Tawa Ishola, Gift Otuwe and Esther Sunday starred as FK Minsk won the Belarus Women Super Cup back-to-back after a 1-0 win over Zorka-Bdu on Thursday.
Minsk began the year on a title-winning note with the 2015 Super Cup trophy in the bag with the presence of the Nigerian internationals.
It was Belarusian forward Ekaterina Avkhimovich's 9th minute lone strike at the KFP Stadium that ensured Jonas Pjatrauskas's ladies retained the prestigious title they last won in 2012 to complete a treble.
The reigning Belarus Women Premier League champions who defeated arch-rivals Bobruichanka 2-0 last year had four Nigerians including Super Falcons defender Onome Ebi who is currently on international assignment.
On the Nigerians' contribution to the the treble winners, attacking midfielder Ishola, who joined the Belarus outfit last summer from Ibom Angels emerged the team’s highest scorer with 18 goals in her 23 appearances, while defensive midfielder Otuwe, who signed since 2012 scored seven times in 24 games last season.
Sunday, who also teamed up with the three-time champions managed five goals in six games no thanks with her international engagement with the Super Falcons at the 2014 African Women’s Champions alongside Ebi who also scored once.
Pjatrauskas' team will begin defence of their league title against Nadezhda at the Minsk KFP stadium on Monday, April 20.
