Minsk release Esther Sunday & Onome Ebi for AWC

The Nigerian women pair has been freed by their Belarusian league outfit to team up with the senior women national team ahead of its AWC campaign in Namibia
Minsk of Belarus has released Nigeria pair of Esther Sunday and Onome Ebi for international assignment with the Super Falcons at the forthcoming African Women Championship in Namibia.

Sunday and Ebi are among the five overseas players yet to arrive in camp as the Super Falcons began preparations for the AWC in Abuja since September 14.

Goallearnt that Sunday and Ebi who are integral members of Minsk have been finally allowed to team up with the other Super Falcons players in camp with 11 days to its opening game of the tournament.

A top source at the club informed Goal, that the pair will depart Belarus on Monday afternoon and expected to arrive in Nigeria by 7pm in the evening.

The Belarus women topflight outfit, which earlier held out on allowing the Super Falcons’ players play any part in the CAF senior women championship which is not listed in FIFA Calendar over concerns of distraction to its league activities.

Meanwhile, coach Edwin Okon is expected to include the six foreign players in his final 21-woman squad for the eight-country women competition.

A top official informed Goal, that the team have strong assurance that the rest overseas players -Desire Oparanozie, Perpetua Nkwocha and Francisca Ordega will join the team in couple days.

The Super Falcons are drawn in Group A of the championship alongside Ivory Coast, Zambia and hosts, Namibia, which holding from October 11-25.

The best three teams at the end of the championship will represent the continent at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
