Super Falcons invitee Christy Ohieriaku is delighted following her inclusion in the 30-player provisional squad for the 2014 Africa Women Championship in Namibia.
The Osun Babes goalkeeper who featured in her side’s 2-1 home win over Rivers Angels has however promised to justify her call-up by making the final team list.
"I am happy and I thank God it is always been my dream to play for the national team – I’ve waited for this opportunity with the U17 and U20, but God says it will be Super Falcons,” Ohieriaku told Goal.
"I’m grateful to coach Okon for inviting me and I promise not to disappoint. I also want to thank my teammates for their supports. Nigerians should expect a better me because I am going to give my best.
"It’s great news for me, meaning I am doing well in the local league. I now have a chance to compete with my mentor [Precious] Dede.
"I believe this is a big opportunity to learn from her and also follow her footsteps in becoming a legend too,” she concluded.
Nigeria will be aiming for their seventh title at the 9th edition of the AWC which holds from October 11-25, 2014.
