League Management Committee bans Uyo Township Stadium for rest of the season

The LMC have agreed a verdict banning the Uyo Stadium but no fines will be imposed on home team Akwa United

The League Management Committee (LMC) under the chairmanship of Nduka Irabor, has decided to ban the Uyo Township Stadium for the rest of the season after Referee Henry Ogunyanmodi refused to continue the match between Akwa United and Warri Wolves in the Nigeria Professional Football League last week.

The referee had alleged that fans attacked him in the dressing room during the interval and the game had to be called off even as Akwa United were leading 2-0.

Warri Wolves have subsequently been awarded three goals and three points. The verdict which will institute that no fines be paid by the Uyo-based side will see them play the remainder of their matches in the NFPL at the Rojenny Stadium, Oba in Anambra State.

Also Lobi Stars will be ordered to play three home matches behind closed doors after their fans assaulted Referee Audu Ibrahim after a 0-0 draw against Enyimba.
