Ibrahimovic could extend his PSG contract – Thiago Silva

The Brazilian is not giving up hope of the prolific Swede committing his future to the Parc des Princes club after the 34-year-old excelled against Reims on Saturday
Paris Saint-Germain ace Zlatan Ibrahimovic could extend his contract with the club, Thiago Silva has revealed.

The Sweden international’s deal at the Parc des Princes is up at the end of the season, but amid rumours that Ibra could depart for the MLS or the Premier League, the Brazil international believes that the prolific striker should stay in France.

“I believe that he could stay, but it’s not me who decides,” he said of the 34-year-old forward. “It’s the coach and the president who will make the decision.

“He’s still an incredible player and does things for the team that are very important. I think he’ll continue to do that until the end of the season and then we’ll see.”

Ibrahimovic's form this season has been prolific, and he has scored 28 times in 33 appearances for PSG, including a double in Saturday's 4-1 win over Reims, in which he created the two other goals.

Off the back of such form the defending champions are only 10 points away from securing the Ligue 1 title, and the centre-back admitted it is a nice feeling.

“It’s completely different to last season,” he said. “This year we started well and that’s made the difference. We’ve only got 10 points to go and we’ll continue to work.

“We can now start thinking about Lyon, where it will be good to go and play. We will try to win there.”
