Owoso Trimisiyi’s first half penalty handed Ojo Famayoh’s side the much desired victory in the keenly contested affair at the Adeyemi College of Education sports complex.
After several futile attempts by both teams, Oscoed’s got a lifeline when referee Akinwumi Idowu handed them a penalty after Omolaye John had handled the ball in the penalty area.
And Trimisiyi stepped up and converted the kick as his side took the lead going to the half time break.
On resumption of the second half, College of Education, Ila Orangun gave in their all for the equaliser but failed in their bid owing to their opponent’s dogged and organized backline.
Their best chance in the second half saw Abiodun Oluwaseyi rounded off the goalkeeper but had his effort saved by the opposing defenders who quickly recovered on time to clear the line.
With this victory, they need are a leg in to qualify for the male football event of the 2016 College of Education, Obudu, Cross-Rivers State.
In other games played on Thursday, hosts Adeyemi College of Education bowed 1-0 to College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti.
