Akas, captain of the home based Super Eagles that crashed out at the first round of the African Nations Championship was rumoured to have joined Enyimba few weeks ago but with the confirmation from the Promise keepers, Akas will represent the club this season.
Ekoh told Goal: " We have signed Chima Akas from Sharks.”
“He is a very strong and reliable defender. We hope he will complement our rebuilding process in the team.”
Akwa United will play in the 2016 Caf Confederation Cup this year and they have a preliminary round first leg with Vital Club Mokanda of Congo next weekend in Brazzaville.
