Reigning champions Rivers Angels retained the Nigeria Women Premier League title after a 1-0 victory against Bayelsa Queens in Umuahia on Thursday.

Oshinachi Ohale's solitary strike in the 39th minute ensured the Port Harcourt Ladies recorded back-to-back title wins.

Nasarawa Amazons won the third place match with a 2-1 defeat of Delta Queens. Oghiangbevha Emueje's first half brace for the Lafia Ladies was not overshadowed by Joy Jegede's late goal from the spot for the Warri Ladies.

Earlier at same venue, Abia Angels emerged champions of the Nigeria Women Professional Football League after they recorded a 3-0 victory against Tokas Queens. The Umuahia Ladies victory was hugely motivated by the attendance of the Abia State governor's wife, Nkechi Ikpeazu.
