That brings an end to our coverage of the Coupe de France semi-final between Montpellier and Paris Saint-Germain at Stade de la Mosson. Thank you very much for joining us. Goodbye!
Montpellier will seek to bounce back when they welcome Brest in their next Ligue 1 outing. PSG, meanwhile, who will face one of Rumilly Vallieres or Monaco in the Coupe de France final on May 19th, host Reims in their upcoming top-flight match.
Following a tightly contested match, PSG triumph and book their place in the Coupe de France final. Mbappe opened the scoring after 10 minutes as the visitors got off to a quick start, before Laborde’s fine strike levelled the score on the brink on half-time. Les Parisiens’ French talisman bagged his second five minutes after the restart, but Montpellier got back on level terms for a second time through Delort. The visitors missed a handful of clear-cut chances in the dying minutes taking the game to penalties, where Kean sealed PSG’s place in the final following Sambia’s miss.
FULL TIME: MONTPELLIER 2-2 PSG – Paris Saint-Germain win 6-5 on penalties.

GOOAALL! Bertaud gets a hand to Marquinhos’ spot-kick, but he cannot keep it out of the bottom-left corner. 4-4.
GOOAALL! Ristic confidently lashes his penalty into the top-right corner. Navas went the wrong way. 4-3.
GOOAALL! Despite slipping in the run up, Paredes goes straight down the middle while Bertaud dives to his right. 3-3.
GOOAALL! Mavididi finds the top-left corner via the slightest touch from Navas’ glove. 3-2.
GOOAALL! Draxler powers the ball beyond Bertaud and into top-right corner. 2-2.
GOOAALL! Delort makes no mistake from the spot as he follows in Di Maria’s footsteps, picking out the bottom-left corner and sending Navas the wrong way. 2-1.
GOOAALL! Di Maria coolly responds as he sends Bertaud the wrong way and picks out the bottom-left corner. 1-1.
GOOAALL! Savanier fires the ball into the bottom-left corner. Navas went the right way but could not get a hand to it. 1-0.
This Coupe de France semi-final is going to penalties. Two goals from Mbappe were cancelled out by Laborde and Delort, before PSG missed a handful of chances to win the game in the closing minutes.
90' + 4'
FULL TIME: MONTPELLIER 2-2 PSG – Penalties to follow.
90' + 4'
WHAT A CHANCE TO WIN IT! The ball drops kindly to Danilo in the centre of the box following a corner from the left, but his first-time shot is parried into the air and then caught by Bertaud. Was that the chance?
90' + 3'
OFF THE LINE! Di Maria lofts a tidy pass beyond the hosts’ defence for Neymar, who scuffs his shot across the box. The loose ball falls to Icardi, and his close-range effort is hooked off the line by Hilton.
90' + 2'
WIDE! Kean finds himself in a yard of space inside the hosts’ box, although he just cannot set himself as he fires a shot wide of the far post.
90' + 1'
Savanier takes the resulting set-piece and it cannons against the wall and out for a corner, which PSG easily deal with.
There will be three minutes of added time at the end of the second half.
Neymar catches Savanier’s foot and Montpellier win a free-kick on the edge of the visitors’ box. The Brazilian picks up a yellow card for the foul.
Savanier also goes into the book for his part in that coming together with Bakker.
Bakker pushes Savanier to the floor as the hosts’ midfielder looks to waste time from a throw-in. The PSG defender is booked for his involvement in the clash.
With four minutes of normal time left to play, Neymar replaces Florenzi. Pochettino is not holding back in the closing stages.
In an effort to keep things fresh, Der Zakarian brings on Dolly for Mollet.
The winner of this clash will meet either Rumilly Vallieres or Monaco in the Coupe de France final. The second semi-final takes place tomorrow at Parc des Sports Annecy.
The visitors are once again undone by La Paillade’s ruthless counter-attacking play. Hilton began the attack by picking out Mollet, and midfielder’s forward pass for Laborde was perfectly weighted. Navas came across to cover his near post, granting Delort the time and space to pick out the bottom-right corner.
GOOOOOAAAAAALLL! Di Maria took too long to unleash a strike at the other end, and Montpellier have made PSG pay on the break! Mollet steers a pass down the right side of the penalty area for Laborde, who squares it for Delort to apply the simplest of finishes from close range. 2-2.
Mbappe also comes off for Kean.
With the pressure building, Pochettino makes another substitution. Gueye makes way for Danilo.
THUNDEROUS STRIKE! Gueye’s half clearance falls kindly to Ristic, and the full-back unleashes a powerful strike from range which Navas punches away at his near post.
DECENT STRIKE! Mavididi spins away from Marquinhos on the edge of the penalty and Navas is quickly down to his right to keep out the striker’s low shot.
Mbappe’s cross into the back post from the left flank is nodded behind for a corner by Ristic with Di Maria lurking. The set-piece is not dealt with by Bertaud, and Le Tallec is forced to hook the ball to safety.
Savanier cuts inside of Paredes on the edge of the PSG box and his right-footed shot is blocked behind for a corner off Gueye. The resulting set-piece is headed out for a throw-in down the far side.
GOOD SAVE! The hosts work the ball over to the left, where Ristic cuts onto his right foot and lifts a cross into the box. Laborde flicks the delivery towards goal, but Navas is well placed to make a routine save.
Á. Di María
It is a double change for PSG. Di Maria enters the fray in place of Sarabia.
Pochettino now turns to his bench, bringing on Draxler for Rafinha.
Mbappe looks to lift a deft pass towards the edge of the box for Rafinha. However, his pass is intercepted by Sambia.
CHANCE! Mollet whips a cross into the box from the right flank, and it runs through for Delort. The striker goes for goal on the turn, but Florenzi stands tall to block his right-footed shot from the centre of the box.
D. Le Tallec
Der Zakarian makes his second alteration of the match with 22 minutes of normal time left to play. La Tallec comes on for Ferri. It remains 2-1.
OPENING! Mbappe once again gets in down the left and cuts inside before driving to the centre of the box. The attacker selflessly lays it off to Sarabia, who knocks it back to Rafinha on the edge of the box, and his shot is blocked. There was perhaps one pass too many there.
Following that high tackle on Rafinha, the referee shows Mollet a yellow card.
Diallo climbs over the back of Delort, and Montpellier win a free-kick in an advanced position. Savanier’s resulting delivery into the area is nodded to safety, and the referee awards PSG a free-kick after Rafinha was adjudged to have been fouled by Mollet's high boot.
NEARLY A THIRD! Sarabia drives in field from the right and lays the ball off to Mbappe, who keeps his balance under pressure to control the pass and break into the penalty area. From an acute angle, the Frenchman’s low effort is kept out by Bertaud.
Laborde finds himself in a yard of space on the edge of the PSG box, although he slices his shot wide of the far post.
WHAT A CHANCE! Rafinha collects possession on the edge of the hosts’ penalty area, and Icardi lets the Brazilian's pass run through his legs for Sarabia. From the right side of the box, and completely unmarked, the winger fires straight at Bertaud and the ball runs out a corner.
Pochettino’s team have settled into their rhythm and are working the ball around neatly. Sarabia plays a clever reverse pass to set Mbappe away down the right-hand side of the area, and the Frenchman’s low cross is palmed out by Bertaud before being cleared by Hilton.
Aside from scoring both goals, Mbappe has played the most key passes of any PSG player with six.
Icardi fouls Ristic and La Paillade win a free-kick deep inside their own half.
Ferri catches Paredes with a late tackle midway inside the visitors’ half, and he is shown a yellow card. He can have no complaints with that decision.
OVER! Congre latches onto Mollet’s corner from the left, but he cannot keep his effort under the bar from the middle of the penalty area.
Rafinha will claim the assist, but this goal is all about Mbappe. He showed great pace and control to take Hilton one way and then the other, before eventually gliding into the box and beating Bertaud from close range. That is Mbappe at his best.
GOOOOAAAAAALLL! PSG are back in front! Rafinha collects the ball midway inside his own half and advances the play down the left through Mbappe. The Frenchman cuts inside of Hilton and Ferri after getting into the penalty area and calmly places his finish in the bottom-right corner. 2-1.
VITAL BLOCK! Mbappe uses his pace to drive beyond Hilton, get to the byline, and steer a low cross into the box. Icardi meets the delivery, but Congre goes to ground to block the shot before Rafinha fires over from the edge of the area.
INCHES WIDE! Mbappe, with his back to goal, turns into space and threads the ball down the right for Sarabia. The Spaniard shows good feet to the work it onto his left foot, and just curls a shot wide of the far post from the edge of the box. That was not too far away.
Savanier looks to get Montpellier off to the perfect start, but his long-range effort sails well wide of Navas’ goal.
We are back underway! Pignard, the referee, blows his whistle and Montpellier get the second half kicked off.
The hosts make one change at the break, with Mavididi replacing Souquet.
Despite the score, Der Zakarian will want to see more from his side after the break. The home team have looked vulnerable on the counter, while their press is leaving space between the lines for PSG to exploit. Pochettino, on the other hand, will be frustrated that his side are not a few goals in front. Les Parisiens have been wasteful on front of goal, and that will need to change if they want to advance to the final.
After an action-packed first half, there’s nothing to separate Montpellier and PSG at half-time. The visitors got off to a fast start and took the lead through Mbappe after he latched onto Gueye’s pinpoint throughball. Minutes after Les Parisiens went in front, Bertaud stood tall to keep out both Mbappe and Icardi, which gave La Paillade the confidence to attack. The hosts got their rewards on the brink of half-time when Laborde’s clinical strike flew beyond Navas and into the top-right corner.
HALF TIME: MONTPELLIER 1-1 PSG
There will be one minute of added time.
PSG were caught out by La Paillade’s incisive counter. Ferri drifted into a dangerous position in the inside-right channel, picked his head up, and spotted Laborde in space. From there, the French forward made no mistake with the finish, leaving Navas with no chance.
GOOOAAAAAALLL! Montpellier are level! The hosts work a quick counter down the right flank which results in Ferri switching the play over to the left. Laborde collects the ball on the edge of the box, drives at Florenzi, and unleashes a well-struck left-footed shot that finds the top-right corner. 1-1.
GOOD IDEA! Sarabia lifts the resulting free-kick into the back post, where Diallo drifts inside and away from his marker before steering a first-time shot wide from close range.
PSG’s high press sees Paredes win the ball back high up the field and Savanier is forced to bring him down. The referee awards the away side a free-kick.
Gueye shows good feet on the edge of the hosts’ box to drift inside of Congre before firing a curling shot over the bar.
Gueye is adjudged to have caught Savanier’s right ankle with a late tackle a few yards outside of the visitors’ box. Mollet takes the resulting free-kick, but his pacey delivery evades everyone in the centre and runs out for a goal-kick.
Montpellier are beginning to break out of their own half, which is leaving them vulnerable on the break. Gueye plays Mbappe in behind, and the attacker lays it back to Icardi, who’s shot from the middle of the box is blocked behind for a corner off Sambia.
La Paillade fail to clear a corner from the right, allowing Sarabia to collect the loose ball down the left flank. He opts to swing a left-footed cross into the box, which Bertaud claims at the second time of asking.
Montpellier have yet to register a shot on target. PSG, on the other hand, have had four.
PSG patiently work the ball around on the edge of the Montpellier box before Pardes fires an ambitious strike from distance well over the top of the Bertaud’s goal.
WHAT A CHANCE! Sarabia drifts over to the left and slides a throughball beyond the hosts’ defence for Mbappe to chase. The striker catches up to the pass, drives into the box, and plays it across goal for Icardi, who fires a first-time strike straight at Bertaud. He should score!
OVER! Savanier's in-swinging corner is delivered into the near post, and Congre’s deft flick sails over the bar.
Sambia gets down the right flank, cuts onto his left foot, and floats a cross into PSG’s box. In looking to nod it back to his goalkeeper, Florenzi heads the ball over Navas and it just goes wide of the near post and behind for a corner.
CLOSE! Paredes switches the play over to right-hand side for the overlapping Florenzi, and the Italian’s cross loops up off Ristic and just goes over the top-left corner of the goal.
JUST WIDE! Florenzi finds himself in a yard of space down the right flank and delivers an in-swinging cross into the box. Sarabia gets between two defenders to meet the delivery, although his first-time effort just sails wide of the near post.
Savanier is a little too eager to win the ball from Icardi and impedes the Argentine. Les Parisiens win a free-kick inside their own half.
Mbappe was down momentarily after colliding with the onrushing Bertaud during that earlier chance, although he is now back to his feet and able to continue.
GREAT SAVE! Gueye drives forward and looks to play a quick one-two with Mbappe to set the Frenchman in behind the hosts’ defence. The attacker receives the pass down the left side of the box before being denied from close range by Bertaud.
Icardi works the ball inside for Florenzi, who shoots wide to the left of Bertaud’s goal from the edge of the box.
GOOD BLOCK! Mbappe drifts into space down the right side of the box and lifts a cross into the area for the unmarked Icardi. The attacker latches onto the delivery, but his effort cannons off Souquet’s head and behind for a corner.
ALMOST A SECOND! Mbappe squares up his marker down the left side of the box and lays the ball off to the overlapping Icardi. The Argentine looks to return it back to Mbappe for a simple finish, but Hilton is in the right place to clear the danger in the middle of the box.
PSG have looked dangerous down the inside-left channel, and that is where the opening goal comes from. The one-two between Icardi and Gueye created space in midfield, meaning that Souquet had to drop back, and was thus caught out by Mbappe’s pace. A well-worked goal to open the scoring.
GOOAAALLL! Mbappe breaks the deadlock! Icardi drops deep to play a one-two with Gueye midway inside the hosts’ half, and the midfielder threads a pinpoint throughball beyond Souquet for Mbappe. The Frenchman takes the ball in his stride before firing past Bertaud and into the roof of the net. 1-0.
Pochettino’s team are adopting a very patient approach as they look to break down La Paillade, who are pressing high up the field.
Mbappe gets to the byline after skipping beyond Souquet and floats a cross into the centre of the box. Hilton positions himself well to nod the delivery to safety.
Marquinhos spots Icardi’s run off the shoulder and in behind the hosts’ defence, but the Brazilian’s lofted pass runs through for Bertaud to gather.
The away side are enjoying the bulk of the possession in the opening exchanges. Florenzi launches a searching pass forward and, in trying to take it down, Mbappe catches Congre with a high boot. Montpellier win a free-kick on the edge of their own box.
Mbappe drifts inside and finds a pocket of space following some neat control from Rafinha. The Frenchman takes the ball in his stride and fires a long-range effort straight at Bertaud.
Kick-off! The referee, Jeremie Pignard, blows his whistle and PSG get the game underway.
The teams are out, and kick-off will soon be upon us here at Stade de la Mosson.
PSG haven’t conceded a single goal in any of their Coupe de France games in 2020-21.
Montpellier booked their place in the Coupe de France semi-final after beating Canet Roussillon 2-1 in the previous round. The hosts come into this game having lost just two of their last 12 matches in all competitions, although La Paillade have kept only one clean sheet in that time. PSG, meanwhile, sealed their spot in the semi-final after defeating Angers 5-0 in the quarter-final. Pochettino’s team are the reigning Coupe de France champions, and they will be full of confidence after beating the home side 4-0 the last time they met in Ligue 1.
Michel Der Zakarian makes two alterations to the Montpellier side that beat Strasbourg in Ligue 1 last time out. Both Mollet and Savanier return from suspension for this semi-final tie. As a result, Le Tallec and Mavididi drop to the bench. Mauricio Pochettino, on the other hand, names a much-changed team. Florenzi, Diallo, Bakker, Paredes, Gueye, Sarabia, Rafinha, Mbappe and Icardi replace Dagba, Presnal Kimpembe, Layvin Kurzawa, Danilo, Ander Herrera, Di Maria, Neymar, Draxler and Kean. Marco Verratti is banned for this contest following an accumulation of yellow cards.
PSG SUBS: Sergio Rico, Colin Dagba, Thilo Kehrer, Danilo Pereira, Xavi Simons, Julian Draxler, Angel Di Maria, Neymar, Moise Kean.
MONTPELLIER SUBS: Matis Carvalho, Nicolas Cozza, Damien Le Tallec, Joris Chotard, Samy Benchama, Keagan Dolly, Stephy Mavididi, Petar Skuletic, Sepe Elye Wahi.
PSG (4-3-3): Keylor Navas; Alessandro Florenzi, Marquinhos, Abdou Diallo, Mitchel Bakker; Idrissa Gueye, Leandro Paredes, Rafinha; Pablo Sarabia, Kylian Mbappe, Mauro Icardi.
MONTPELLIER (4-3-3): Dimitry Bertaud; Arnaud Souquet, Hilton, Daniel Congre, Mihailo Ristic; Jordan Ferri, Florent Mollet, Junior Sambia; Gaetan Laborde, Teji Savanier, Andy Delort.
Montpellier come into this game looking to make it back-to-back wins after beating Strasbourg 3-2 in their last Ligue 1 outing. PSG, on the other hand, will hope to improve on their recent 1-1 draw with Rennes in the league.
