8th Finals
UEFA Europa League

Thank you for following our coverage of tonight’s Champions League match between Ferencvaros and Dynamo Kiev. Until next time, stay safe!
Next up for Ferencvaros is a trip to Fehervar back in the Hungarian top-flight whilst Dynamo Kiev face a trip to SC Dnipro-1 back in Ukraine.
A fantastic Champions League encounter in Budapest finishes all square as Ferencvaros fight back to draw 2-2 with visitors Dynamo Kiev. Nguen’s early second-half goal got the home side on the front foot and the dismissal of Sydorchuk for the visitors left them scrabbling for the last ten minutes of the match. Dynamo couldn’t hold on though and the hosts got their deserved equaliser in the end as Boli turned home in the 90th minute.
90' + 5' SO CLOSE! Ferencvaros have a late corner but the cross is cleared by the visitors. The ball falls to Zubkov however and the winger has a crack at goal from distance. His effort is just inches over!!
90' + 4' It's attack against defence to finish this match as Ferencvaros oush forward. The dismissal of Sydorchuk has completely changed this encounter.
G. Rodrigues
V. Tsygankov
90' + 3' Rodrigues replaces Tsygankov out wide for the visitors.
90' + 2' Five minutes of additional time has been added by the fourth official here in Budapest. Can the home side snatch an unlikely Champions League win?!
A. Laïdouni
90' Laidouni gets the assist on the goal but he didn't plan on it!
F. Boli
90' GOOOOAAAAALLLL!!!! 2-2. BOLI LEVELS!!!!! Ferencvaros have a dangerous freekick and Mak goes for goal. His shot from distance is terrible but it falls kindly to Laidouni. The midfielder swings at the ball and his attempt is heading wide but Boli pounces and the striker converts from close range. Comeback complete!
B. Verbič
V. Supryaha
89' Verbic joins the action as Supriaha leaves the field for the visitors.
T. Băluţă
M. Shaparenko
89' Baluta - on loan from Premier League side Brighton - replaces Shaparenko in midfield.
L. Dvali
A. Kovačević
86' Defender Kovacevic leaves the field and is replaced by Dvali as the hosts go looking for an equaliser.
E. Botka
G. Lovrencsics
86' Lovrencsics is replaced by Botka for the home side.
86' OFF! Sydorchuk is sent off for the visitors. He misses his tackle and fouls Lovrencsics. That's a really painful one for the full-back and Dynamo Kiev can have no complaints about that decision.
84' CHANCE! The home side have a chance to level the scores. Boli receives the ball on the edge of the Dynamo box, he turns on the spot and shoots. His right-footed effort from 25 yards is too weak to trouble Boyko though.
D. Harmash
V. Buyalskyi
82' Garmash joins the action for Dynamo Kiev at the expense of Buyalskiy. His experience will be vital in the closing stages of this match.
81' It’s all got very scrappy in midfield over the last few minutes in this clash as both sides battle for possession. Ferencvaros have been far too wasteful in midfield so far tonight – too many loose passes could cost them dear.
79' This is proving to be a real balancing act for Dynamo Kiev now. The visitors are still committing men forward to push for that decisive third goal but in the process, they could leave themselves too open in defence.
V. Buyalskyi
Yellow Card
76' Buyalskiy chases after a loose ball down the right wing but fouls Kovacevic in the process. That's another yellow card in this feisty Champions Laague encounter.
75' The midfield duo of Shaparenko and Sydorchuk are in for a busy last 15 minutes as they look to take control of the midfield battle for Dynamo Kiev. Shaparenko in particular is popping up everywhere in an attempt to regain possession in the centre of the park for the visitors.
F. Boli
73' Isael leaves the field of play after being replaced by Boli. The striker will head upfront alongside Nguen for the hosts.
R. Mak
D. Sigér
73' Mak replaces Siger in attacking midfield for the hosts as they chase down an equaliser.
T. Nguen
Yellow Card
72' Nguen is booked for dissent towards the referee at the same time. Ferencvaros need to keep their discipline here.
A. Laïdouni
Yellow Card
71' Laidouni is booked after bringing down Tsygankov as the Dynamo Kiev charges through the middle of the pitch.
69' A dangerous free-kick is awarded for Ferencvaros around 40 yards from the Dynamo Kiev goal. Isael again overhits his delivery though and Boyko collects well.
67' Zabarnyi goes down under an aerial challenge from Siger but the Ukrainian centre back is fine to continue. The home fans are not happy with what they view as an effort to time waste.
A. Laïdouni
I. Kharatin
65' The home side make the first change of the night as Laidouni replaces Kharatin in central midfield. A sensible substitution with the departing player already on a yellow card.
64' Dynamo Kiev really need to see out these next few minutes of play and regain control of this clash. The visitors just need to get their foot on the ball and take the sting out of Ferencvaros’ recent pressure.
61' That goal has really changed the complexion of this Champions League match. The home side are pushing for an equaliser and their fans have upped the atmosphere.
O. Zubkov
59' It was a lovely little chipped pass into Nguen from Zubkov. Great play from the Ukrainian winger on loan from Dynamo Kiev's rivals Shakhtar Donetsk.
T. Nguen
59' GOOOOAAALLLLL!!! 2-1. NGUEN SCORES FOR FERENCVAROS!!!! It’s just what the home side needed and it’s a lovely finish from the winger. Zubkov chips a ball into the Dynamo Kiev box and Ngeun takes it under control, he finds space and fires a right-footed effort into the far corner from 12 yards. Game on!
58' Despite losing four and winning just one of their UEFA Champions League games, Ferencvaros have actually only failed to score in one of their seven games in the competition, doing so in a 0-4 defeat against Ajax in December 1995. An early second half goal could really turn this tie around for the hosts.
57' Ferencvaros fans will have been hoping for a much better start than this in the second half from their side. It’s becoming far too easy for the visitors to bypass Somalia and Kharatin in central midfield who are offering very little for the home side.
55' Another player who has played well so far tonight is 20-year-old Dynamo Kiev forward Supriaha. The youngster has led the line very well on his own for the visitors and has caused a lot of problems for Blazic and Kovacevic at the back for Ferencvaros.
53' No Hungarian team has ever won a home UEFA Champions League game in six attempts (D2 L4) – Ferencvaros need to come from behind here to change that record on behalf of their nation.
S. Sydorchuk
Yellow Card
52' Dynamo Kiev's Sydorchuk is booked for fouling Somalia in midfield.
50' Tsygankov has definitely been the stand-out man for the visitors tonight. Already in this second half he’s taken on his man with ease twice. His combination of pace, trickery and power makes him a real prospect at 22 years of age – could we see him transfer to a top five league in the future?
48' Ferencvaros really need to attack this second half from the off if they have any chance of picking up a positive result tonight. So far Isael has looked like their only real threat upfront.
46' Both sets of players are back out and the play is back underway!
Ferencvaros have really lacked any sort of pace up front to trouble their Ukrainian visitors. A change at half time could be made to try and turn this match in their favour.
A great first half for Dynamo Kiev comes to an end with the visitors leading 2-0 at the break in Hungary. The home side are still yet to really show their teeth so to speak and have paid the price for a poor overall performance so far. Goals from Tsygankov and De Pena the difference at the interval.
45' One minute of additional time will be played in this first half.
44' Ferencvaros look ready for the half time break. Their overall play in this first half has been too slow and too predictable to catch the visitors out. Dynamo Kiev are in a commanding position here.
C. de Pena
41' GOOOAAAAALLLLL!!! 2-0 DYNAMO KIEV. DE PENA!!! The visitors double their tally and take a big lead against Ferencvaros. Buyalskiy is set free down the right side and breaks away from the defence. The winger sees De Pena wide open on the far side and plays a ball across which Lovrencsics intercepts, but it hits the Dynamo winger and ends up in the net.
41' Isael's corner is wayward and safely falls into the hands of Boyko in the Dynamo Kiev goal. The goalkeeper throws it out wide and the visitors start a counter-attack.
40' The home side get their first corner of the match courtesy of Lovrencsics blocked cross. Isael will take responsibility from the set piece.
39' That’s better from Ferencvaros. The ball is worked well around the box and Somalia lays the ball off to Nguen on the edge of the Dynamo Kiev penalty area. The winger opens up his body to try and guide his right-footed shot into the far top corner but his effort is too strong and it flies over the crossbar.
37' The Ferencvaros faithful in attendance tonight are generating a fantastic atmosphere to try and lift the home side. The Hungarian champions have hardly seen the Dynamo Kiev half for the past 20 minutes of play.
35' Karavaev is fouled by Zubkov on the left wing and the visitors have another dangerous set piece. The cross is whipped in by the visitors but Blazic clears the danger.
33' Ferencvaros need to soak up this pressure in order to stay in this Champions League tie. The visitors have really taken a hold of the match over the past few minutes and the home side are struggling to get their collective foot on the ball at the moment.
30' Dynamo Kiev are turning the screw here and are looking threatening when they come forward. De Pena bursts down the left and feeds a ball into Supriaha but his shot from close range is blocked right in front of him.
V. Tsygankov
Penalty Goal
28' GOOOOAAAALLLL!!! 1-0 DYNAMO KIEV. TSYGANKOV CONVERTS!! The young winger steps up confidently and slots his penalty into the bottom left-hand corner of the goal. Dibusz stood no chance in the Ferencvaros net.
I. Kharatin
Yellow Card
26' Kharatin is booked for the unfortunate handball that gave away the penalty.
25' PENALTY! Dynamo Kiev float a cross into the box and Zabarnyi has a shot at goal. The effort is blocked by Kharatin but bounces up onto the midfielder’s hand.
24' Dynamo Kiev have won all three of their previous matches against Hungarian teams in European competition, with this their first such clash since beating MTK Budapest in the UEFA Cup in September 1989 (2-1). The away side will be hoping to keep that record going this evening.
23' Nothing much to split the two sides so far in this Champions League Group G match-up. The home side have edged the possession but the visitors have had the best chance at goal so far.
M. Heister
Yellow Card
21' Ferencvaros' Heister also has his name taken early by the referee. The German full-back stormed into the challenge with Tsygankov and won the ball but the referee decides his tackle is too strong.
20' CHANCE! The away side have their first real look at goal. It’s great play down the left by Buyalskiy who works an opening and plays the ball back to Karavaev. The full-back nutmegs the defender in front of him but his shot from 15 yards out is straight at the goalkeeper who keeps the scores level.
18' Isael swings in a cross from the resulting free-kick but his effort is way overhit and the ball harmlessly rolls out for a Dynamo goal kick.
17' Popov fouls Isael just outside the Dynamo Kiev penalty area. This could be a real chance for the hosts.
16' The home side are really controlling the majority of the possession so far in this Champions League clash. The duo of Somalia and Siger in central midfield are especially key to that – both have won all their individual battles so far.
14' This is Ferencvaros’s first Champions League home game since November 1995 when they drew 3-3 with Grasshopper Club Zürich. They failed to win any of their three such games in the 1995-96 campaign (D2 L1). They’ll be hoping to right that wrong tonight.
Yellow Card
12' An early yellow card for Ferencvaros' Somalia as he hacks down Shaparenko in midfield. That's a very soft decision from tonight's referee.
11' Both sides have seen plenty of the ball in the opening ten minutes of play here in the Hungarian capital. The home side have looked the more likely to break the deadlock and are just beginning to dominate the play a bit more in the last few minutes.
9' There’s a big crowd at tonight’s Champions League match – around 10,000 - perhaps the largest most people will have seen at a competitive football match for quite a while on the television. The noise is huge behind the left goal which Ferencvaros are defending in the first half.
7' CHANCE! The home side have the first shot at goal of the night. Nguen does well to feed Isael just inside the Dynamo box but his first-timed shot is straight at Boyko in the opposition net.
5' Heister and Isael have already laid early fouls on Dynamo players in midfield. The home side look like they’ll be taking a physical stance in this clash.
3' Dynamo Kiev have controlled nearly all of the early possession here against a tentative looking Ferencvaros side. The Ukrainian side are looking to kick-start their Champions League campaign after losing to Juventus last week.
1' Referee Ivan Kruzliak blows his whistle and we’re underway here in Budapest!
The players are emerging from the tunnel and kick-off is just moments away.
This will be the second ever competitive meeting between Ferencváros and Dynamo Kiev in European competition and the first since Dynamo Kiev won 3-0 in the 1974-75 Cup Winners’ Cup final.
The visitors also sit top of their respective domestic division coming into this clash and will be hoping to grab a vital win here in Hungary. They too line-up with a similar set-up to their first Champions League match this season with Zabarnyi and Popov sitting centrally in a back four. Captain Sydorchuk starts in the middle of a three in central midfield whilst star winger Tsygankov starts this match out wide on the right.
Hungarian league leaders Ferencvaros field a similar starting XI that lost last week to Spanish giants Barcelona. Kovacevic and Blazic start in the heart of defence whilst Kharatin – who scored a consolation penalty versus Barcelona – starts in midfield alongside Somalia. Nguen – who has scored 5 goals in 6 domestic appearances this season for the home side – starts on the left wing.
DYNAMO KIEV SUBS: Ruslan Neshcheret, Tudor Baluta, Benjamin Verbic, Volodymyr Shepelev, Georgiy Tsitaishvili, Artem Shabanov, Bogdan Lednev, Oleksandr Andrievskyi, Denys Garmash, Gerson Rodrigues, Oleksandr Syrota, Mikkel Dueland.
