Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to recover from their false start to the 2022/23 Premier Soccer League season when they host Maritzburg United at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

Fresh from last Saturday's 1-0 defeat away at Royal AM, the Soweto giants are at home to try and win their first set of maximum points in this campaign.

The rebuilding project by coach Arthur Zwane will be under scrutiny when they engage the Team of Choice who drew 1-1 against Sekhukhune United in their season opener.

GOAL predicts how Zwane could line up his players on Tuesday.

  • Bruce Bvuma, Kaizer Chiefs, March 2022Backpagepix

    GOALKEEPER - Bruce Bvuma

Bvuma conceded against Royal AM but did well to avoid further damage as their hosts were relentlessly attacking.

He is likely to start again ahead of Brandon Petersen and Itumeleng Khune.

  • Njabulo Blom, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2022Backpagepix

    RIGHT-BACK - Njabulo Blom

Since being converted into a full-back last season, Blom has become comfortable in this position.

He was one of the better players against Royal AM and would be hoping to be a top performer on Tuesday.

  • Reeve Frosler, Kaizet Chiefs, August 2022Backpagepix

    LEFT-BACK - Reeve Frosler

Naturally a right-back, Frosler has been Chiefs' number one left-back ahead of Sibusiso Mabiliso and Sifiso Hlanti.

He will be out to deal with the threat from Maritzburg United's Brandon Theron.

  • Zitha Kwinika of Kaizer Chiefs.Backpagepix.

    CENTRE-BACK - Zitha Kwinika

Kwinika looked comfortable against Royal AM and appears to have already fitted in on his return to Naturena where he was a development player.

  • Siyabonga Ngezana, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2022Backpagepix

    CENTRE-BACK - Siyabonga Ngezana

Ngezana is one of the players Zwane is familiar with after the two worked together from their days with the Chiefs development side.

He was a bit shaky in the last game but has always started under Zwane since the end of last season.

  • Yusuf Maart Kaizer Chiefsbackpagepix

Maart got off to an impressive start in his first game for Chiefs.

He did everything to justify he was a good signing and that could see him start again on Tuesday.

  • Nkosingiphile Ngcobo of Kaizer Chiefs, September 2021,Backpagepix

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER - Nkosingiphile Ngcobo

Ngcobo came on as a substitute against Royal AM and his influence could be felt although Chiefs failed to strike back.

His passing ability is what Amakhosi need at home against Maritzburg United.

  • Siyethemba Sithebe Kaizer Chiefsbackpagepix

    ATTACKING MIDFIELDER - Siyethemba Sithebe

His combination in midfield with Ngcobo was always a big threat against Royal AM.

If the two improve their partnership on Tuesday, Maritzburg could be in for a torrid evening.

  • Keagan Dolly, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2022Backpagepix

    RIGHT MIDFIELDER - Keagan Dolly

Dolly was not at his best in the last game and might have disappointed Chiefs fans.

He would be keen to up his game to the level he was last season when he scored seven league goals and made four assists.

  • Khama Billiat, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2022Backpagepix

    LEFT MIDFIELDER - Khama Billiat

The Zimbabwean was switching between a central striker and midfielder with Ashley du Preez in the last game.

Billiat is more effective playing behind the main striker with Dolly supporting him on the other wing.

  • Ashley Du Preez Kaizer Chiefsbackpagepix

    CENTRE-FORWARD - Ashley du Preez

Du Preez will be keen to score his first-ever goal in Chiefs colours.

With Amakhosi playing at home, it would be a big moment for the former Stellenbosch striker to warm the hearts of Chiefs fans at FNB Stadium.
