Key players to drive Harambee Stars in the two friendlies

Goal Kenya.
Harambee Stars will face Comoros on Saturday and the Central African Republic on Tuesday. Which players will be key for the team?

  1. Posta Rangers.

    #1 Patrick Matasi

After impressing during Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup where he helped Kenya win the title for the first time since 2013, keeper Patrick Matasi has another chance to prove that he deserves to start in every game for Harambee Stars. With Farouk Shikhalo and Jeff Oyemba travelling, Matasi will definitely start in the two matches and must lead by example.

    #2 David ‘Calabar’ Owino

The Zesco United defender is expected to play in the heart of Kenya's defense. He is good on air as well as on giving passes. He can win possession and initiate attacks, he can also score. The main task for Owino will be to marshal that defense effectively and ensure no goals are conceded.

  3. Goal Kenya.

    #3 Victor Wanyama

The captain might be given a free role in this game, depending with coach Stanley Okumbi's tactics. But as we have seen in his recent outings for Tottenham in English Premier League, Wanyama can create, as well as score. Wanyama has been accused of not doing enough for the national team; he has an opportunity to answer his critics.

  4. Goal Kenya

    #4 Macdonald Mariga

The last time Mariga turned out for the national team was way back in 2014 against Lesotho. Currently running high in Real Oviedo, Mariga is expected to be involved at some point and he will definitely have to prove that he is still a valuable member of the team. Mariga has already sent a warning that he still has a lot to offer the team.

    #5 Francis Kahata

The Gor Mahia midfielder is expected to play in the wing, he is creative and knows what to do when with the ball, and at what time. He is also a dead ball specialist who cannot be underrated. The good thing about the former Thika United star is his never die attitude; he always encourages the team to do better.

  6. Goal Kenya.

    #6 Michael Olunga

Arguably the best striker currently in Kenya, he has been doing well at Girona despite his limited play time. The towering Olunga is well known for his perfect goal poaching skills and creativity as well. This man has an excellent goal ratio when playing for Harambee Stars and many fans hope he will continue with his fine run against Comoros and the Central African Republic.
