Arsenal fans have urged the club's top hierarchy to move with speed and sign Victor Osimhen to replace the injured Gabriel Jesus in the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old Jesus picked up an injury while representing Brazil against Cameroon in the ongoing 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar and has reportedly been ruled out for three months.
It means Ghana prospect Eddie Nketiah will have to step up (along with partner Gabriel Martinelli) in the absence of the former Manchester City forward.
Despite the presence of Nketiah, the injury has prompted Arsenal fans to storm social media where they have backed the signing of 23-year-old Nigeria international Osimhen, who is having a great season with Serie A outfit Napoli.
If Arsenal do not consider the deal for Osimhen, they have challenged the management to recall Nigeria prospect Folarin Balogun, from his loan spell at Ligue 1 outfit Reims.
Please @Arsenal buy Victor Osimhen in January to replace Gabriel Jesus. - @temmyponle
Jesus out for three months , get us Victor Osimhen ASAP @Arsenal. - @Zecks_DaMenace
Victor Osimhen let's do this. - @mr___easy
I don't understand. This is our best chance to win the league and Arsenal fans want to depend on Nketiah for the goals? Just go out there and get a proper striker. Osimhen is my choice. - @Arsenal_JD
Time to pull the trigger on a huge signing Arsenal! Gakpo, Osimhen, Vlahovic, Sesko type was already needed but now a Ferran Torres/Moukoko type too 😩 Eddie is one of our own but not for three months!!! - @HaleEndWill
Do you really want to depend on Nketiah? This is our best chance to win the league. I'd take no risks and sign a top striker in Osimhen. - @Arsenal_JD
With Gabriel Jesus' injury I am sorry to say but we have to call Balogun from his loan spell especially if we fail to sign a striker in January. - @afc_abdul
If Jesus is out until the end of the season and we are not signing a striker we should bring back Balogun. - @cth_343
I say we call back Balogun from loan and let him cook till Jesus is back. - @tamzon07afc
If Jesus is out for months, then a recall for Balogun makes most sense. - @1985gooner
Nah, Jesus another injury prone player. We need another no. 9.... Osimhen is the answer. - @zelda5_iam
As an Arsenal fan I'll admit that would be a very well balanced line up with a lot of quality. A good ball playing keeper and a striker that’s capable of getting in behind and physical is all you need next to Rashford and Antony.
Someone like an Osimhen. - @adam1___
We now need to act fast or else Gary Neville was right… I say go for Gakpo and Zaha. Toney will be banned so no point and Osimhen will not leave Napoli right now #GabrielJesus - @Gunneruni
Eddie is not good enough. We have the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League. Need to be clever in the market now. I’d say Zaha. Osimhen ideal but won’t happen. - @Lacazest
Realistic options are Osimhen, Toney, Félix, Vlahovic @Arsenal. - @AllDayRodgers
We don't need Felix and Ronaldo. Now that Jesus is injured, we need to sign a new striker. We can't take any risks. This is our best chance to win the league. Mudryk (LW), Danilo (DM), Tielemans (CM), Ndicka (LCB), Osimhen (ST). That's it! - WE ARE 100% WINNING THE LEAGUE!! - @weekbuay256
Arteta will stick with Nketiah. I think the plan is to increase goals coming from the flanks and midfield. New winger ensures that.
Vlahovic will need to learn how to press like Gabriel Jesus & time will not be available. Only choice left for a new number is to buy [Osimhen], which isn't possible now. - @ItsOluwaTweezy
If Arsenal signs Osimhen all my dreams will come true. - @AndyGDS1
So splash 40/50 million for Mitrovic in January to replace Jesus for two games? Better to wait for a good opportunity, Osimhen and Vlahovic come to mind and are better and younger. - @sakaisthe1
