A month after the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana defender Andy Yiadom has shed light on his time at the tournament in Gabon, also reiterating his desire to get another invite to the national outfit.
The 25-year-old earned his first ever cap for the Black Stars in their third group game against Egypt, before having another run against Burkina Faso in the third-place playoff.
Avram Grant's side eventually finished fourth following a 1-0 defeat to the Stallions.
“It was great to go away and do something different," Yiadom told his club's official website.
"It was a big tournament and it was really good for me to experience something totally different to anything I had done before.
"Everything was new, there was a lot of travelling which was tiring but you take all of these things in and looking back I enjoyed it and the experience."
The fullback was born to Ghanaian parents in London, and at a point played for England's C team. He makes a brief assessment of the pitches in Gabon - a major talking point during the tournament due to several linked injuries.
"Some of the pitches weren’t great but overall it was a great experience," Yiadom said.
“I managed to play twice, against Egypt and Burkina Faso, which was nice.
"When you go away, you get a feel for it and if you play, you want to do it again, so hopefully I get called up to the next game.
"To see all the different players who play at high levels and take stuff of them is only going to be good for my career.”
Yiadom could make his third appearance when Ghana host Ethiopia in the 2019 Afcon qualifiers in June.
