The England forward was unable to get on the scoresheet as his country qualified for the semi-finals but is still two goals ahead of his nearest rival

Although Harry Kane failed to score for the first time at the World Cup, England’s 2-0 win over Sweden in the quarter-finals means he will get two more matches to add to his impressive total.

The Tottenham forward has six goals to his name after playing just four matches and is unsurprisingly dabblebet’s huge 1/8 (1.12) favourite to be top scorer.

Kane never looked like scoring against Sweden and was presented with very few opportunities to do so, although history suggests that six goals will be enough to win the Golden Boot.

Indeed, Ronaldo is the only player to have won the award with more than six goals since 1978 and no player has scored more than six goals but failed to be top scorer since Jairzinho in 1970.

The nearest challenger to Kane is Premier League rival Romelu Lukaku, who is stuck on four goals after failing to net in Belgium’s two knockout matches so far.

Lukaku can be backed at 8/1 (9.0) to oust Kane, whilst three-goal Kylian Mbappe is out at 18/1 (19.0) after missing a glorious chance in France’s win over Uruguay that would have moved him level with the Belgian.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker badly mistimed a free header from the edge of the six-yard area with the score still at 0-0, although he will have two more games to attempt to surpass Pele’s six goals as a teenager in 1958.

Teammate Antoine Griezmann also has three goals and is priced at 25/1 (26.0), and as France’s penalty taker there is a chance the Atletico Madrid forward could add to his tally.

Eden Hazard can be backed at 150/1 (151.0), the same odds as Luka Modric, whilst a whole host of players with just one goal are available at 250/1 (251.0).
