Adelaide United have beaten Brisbane Roar 2-1 in a extraordinary match at Coopers Stadium which saw both teams reduced to 10 men and both coaches nearly coming to blows.
Ben Halloran's brace either side of half-time against his former club put the Reds two goals up but a brainfade and suspected eye gouge from Taylor Regan saw the Adelaide defender sent off with a little over 10 minutes to play.
By this stage Henrique had pulled a goal back for the Roar and the away side dominated possession in the final stages as they pushed for an equaliser.
But ex-Reds midfielder Stefan Mauk went in strongly on Craig Goodwin in the 91st minute after a heavy touch, knocking himself out and then copping a straight red card from referee Jarred Gillett.
Opposing coaches Marco Kurz and John Aloisi were then involved in an angry exchange on the sidelines, with Aloisi's brother Ross also getting involved in a fracas in the tunnel.
As Mauk was escorted from the field after his concussion, he was informed of the red card which sparked fury that saw him kick out at the wall as he walked into the bowels of Coopers Stadium.
The final stages were played out with plenty of tension as Brisbane continued and ultimately failed to find an equaliser.
