Vietnam's players aiming to lift AFF Suzuki Cup

The AFF Suzuki Cup made its way to Hanoi, Vietnam on Nov 2, as part of it’s trophy tour before the start of ASEAN’s premier football tournament.

The trophy was on display at the AEON Mall in Hanoi and members of the Vietnamese public were able to catch a glimpse of the famous trophy. Additionally the trophy was accompanied by three members of the Vietnamese national team in the form of Bui Tien Dung, Duong Thanh Hao and Ha Duc Chinh.

Significantly the trio will be part of The Golden Dragons squad at the upcoming AFF Championships, who will be looking to repeat the heroics of the 2008 Vietnamese team, which went all the way in the tournament to clinch its first AFF Championship trophy.

“I watched Vietnam’s national team lift the trophy 10 years ago. Now, it is our turn to repeat the feat. Certainly, I'm feeling excited when sitting this close to the trophy. However, what I really want is to win it together with my teammates," said goalkeeper Tien Dung.

His sentiments were echoed by forward Duc Chinh who wasn’t coy about his or his country’s ambitions in the tournament.

"Winning this year's AFF Suzuki Cup title is undoubtedly our target. I want to lift the trophy, not just standing close to it,” revealed the 21year old.
