Europe's premier club competition is back - but who will be crowned the Santander Player of the Week?

Shocks, drama, intrigue and goals galore – Tuesday night’s UEFA Champions League action had it all.

And on Wednesday we’re getting ready to do it all over again.

But who will lead his club to glory with the most impressive performance of this matchday? Who will rise up above the rest and be crowned the UEFA Champions League Player of the Week, sponsored by Banco Santander?

Will Diego Costa once again be Atletico de Madrid’s leading man by adding to his impressive recent run of nine goals in his last 10 appearances?

Or will Roberto Firmino once again underline his importance to last season’s finalists Liverpool by leading that stunning front-three to yet another goal glut? The Brazilian has now been directly involved in a remarkable 18 goals in his last 14 UCL outings.

Gerard Pique, too, will be out to impress – set for his 100th UCL appearance against Tottenham Hotspur, the three-time UCL winner will be keen to make Barcelona’s historic return to Wembley a particularly memorable one.

Former Tottenham man Nabil Bentaleb meanwhile, will look to kick on after the silky playmaker made a surprising 10 tackles for Schalke on Matchday 1, more than any other player in the competition.

Voting for Player of the Week opens on Thursday .
