The SheBelieves Cup is coming to the mid-Atlantic region.
U.S. Soccer announced Wednesday that the U.S. women's national team will face fellow powerhouses Germany, England and France from March 1-7 in the Philadelphia, New York and Washington, D.C., markets.
Each match will be a part of a double-header, with the top-ranked U.S. opening the tournament against No. 2 Germany on March 1 at Talen Energy Stadiun in Chester, Pennsylvania. The Americans will then travel to face fifth-ranked England on March 4 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, before meeting No. 3 France on March 7 at RFK Stadium in Washington.
"It's fantastic to play these three teams in the first three games of the year," U.S. coach Jill Ellis said in a news release. "As I've said many times, one of our main goals is to play the best teams in the world as often as possible and we have tremendous respect for France, Germany and England, which all feature world class players at multiple positions.
"To hold this tournament at home is great for our fans and TV partners, but especially for our players and our coaching staff as these are the kinds of games where we get tested and can really learn a lot about ourselves."
The winner of the round-robin tournament will be based on total points, with goal differential as the first tiebreaker, followed by total goals scored, head-to-head results and the FIFA ranking.
The U.S. went 3-0-0 against the same three opponents last year to win the inaugural SheBelieves Cup.
